Cole Valley consists of Cole St, mainly from Parnassus north to Carl (close to Haight-Ashbury). This is one of our favorite areas of SF with lots of restaurants and shops nestled in beautiful area of restored victorians. Say Cheese at Cole and Carl is a great cheese store. (Matthew has a colleague at AMR who is the son of the owner we found out!). They also have wine and other foods. Next door is a coffee/snack shop with a garden out back that is great on a sunny day. South from Carl is Zazie Restaurant, a popular place for breakfast. At Parnassus is the Boulanger at Cole, another nice bakery and place to eat. There is a good wine store just south of Carl. At 17th and Cole is another wine store (Adel's?), situated all by itself, that looks good. They have an annual street fair on Cole, although I don't remember the time of year!
